Thoshna D. Arasappa  |  Full-Time MBA 18

I am Thoshna Arasappa, a technology enthusiast and perpetual learner. I am currently pursuing my 2nd year at Rady's Full-Time MBA Program. An electronics engineer by education and management consultant by profession, I joined Rady to transition from the "Sell" to the "Buy" side of business. I am currently interning with the networking company, Cisco. I work on the marketing and strategy side of their IoT Business Solutions. Rady is 'home away from home' for me, with its highly eclectic and tightly knit cohorts. I have learned and grown so much over the last year, thanks to the immersive experiences and exchanges I've had here at school. Rady has also given me the opportunity to give back to the community by letting me serve as part of the Ambassador Program, Rady Student Board and various other Student Clubs.

Hesham Mohamed  |  Master of Science in Business Analytics 18

I was born in Cairo, Egypt, and spent most of my childhood in Saudi Arabia. I later moved back to Egypt where I studied Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering. After graduation, I worked in sales and marketing in startups and multinational companies in the Telecom Industry, like Huawei and Vodafone. My short term goals is to acquire a Master's degree in Business Analytics from the Rady School. I hope to positively contribute to the field through full-fledged research and development, and also use my newly attained knowledge across different industries. Eventually, I want to establish a consulting agency for driving business intelligence and analytics in Egypt. This will be achieved by coupling the use of Social Network Analysis (SNA) with other Data Mining algorithms for driving Customer Relationship Management.

Lauren M. Murphy  |  Full-Time MBA 19

My name is Lauren Murphy and I am a first year full-time MBA student at Rady, class of 2019. I am a British citizen, born in Bermuda, but grew up in San Diego. I pursued my undergraduate studies at Boston University, where I earned my B.A. magna cum laude in International Relations. Before Rady, I worked in healthcare working for the Organ Transplant Center at Scripps Health in San Diego. I decided to pursue my MBA in order to pivot into a more strategic business role in the healthcare industry. I am particularly interested in consulting roles with hospitals and healthcare organizations in order to optimize their performance in an increasingly uncertain healthcare environment. When I was looking at different business schools, Rady was undoubtedly my first choice. It's not only the top MBA program in San Diego, with a strong focus on quantitative skills, but it has a small collaborative community of diverse and engaging students. I have really enjoyed my courses thus far, and am looking forward to upcoming classes in finance and marketing. I am a member of the Women's MBA club at Rady and a member of the Rady Student Ambassador program. I enjoy getting to the beach with my dog Jackson or heading to the mountains to ski.
zhuoran

Zhuoran (Ryan) Shen  |  Master of Finance 18

After graduating from UC Santa Barbara in statistics as a major, I interned as an actuarial analyst at two fortune 100 companies, Metlife and Liberty Mutual. Working at these companies allowed me to be business ready for many challenges, but also helped me realize that being an actuary wasn’t the job for me. When I decided to pursue a more aggressive career path in the finance industry, I needed the quantitative skill set and a great networking environment. Rady School of Management offered the perfect package that I was looking for. The practical curriculum with a quantitative focus provides cutting edge tools for my future career. Rooted in the heart of a promising and growing city, Rady School of Management builds a strong bridge connecting students with resources in the San Diego and California regions and the globe. Choosing the Master of Science in Finance at Rady made absolute sense to me because it has two things I need for a career boost, the right technical skills and the right networking opportunities. As a Rady Student Ambassador, I am happy to connect with prospective applicants and share my experiences.
