Dr. Adam O’Shay
Dr. O’Shay currently works as a Senior Weather Analyst for Citadel Investment Group L.L.C, in Chicago, IL. His primary focus is to research and build mathematical models to assist Citadel’s Global Energy business to assess climate risk and quantify weather extremes worldwide. Prior to joining Citadel, Dr. O’Shay spent more than two years working on the U.S. Hurricane Risk Model as part of the Climate Hazards and Model Development branch of Risk Management Solutions (RMS), based in San Francisco, CA. This model is used by the global insurance and reinsurance community to assess property losses post Hurricane landfall.
Dr. O’Shay previously earned a Bachelors Degree in Atmospheric Science from Cornell University. While at Cornell, Dr. O’Shay interned with the Climatic Variability and Trends group at the Air Resources Laboratory (ARL) in Silver Spring, MD and studied Heat Stress and aided in quantifying the impacts across the U.S. After completion of his undergraduate degree, he attended the Florida State University where he completed a Masters Degree in Numerical Modeling of Hurricane Recurvature followed by a PhD which focused on the Global Spectrum Energetics of the Madden Julian Oscillation. As part of his graduate work, Dr. O’Shay participated in the Fourth Convection and Moisture Experiment (CAMEX-4) that employed daily Hurricane forecasts which aided in the planning of aircraft reconnaissance missions during the field experiment.
Dr. O’Shay is currently a member of the American Meteorological Society as well as the American Geophysical Union.
