About the Program

Whether you are currently using, or planning to use a global team, this session offers project managers, managers, directors, and VPs, practical tools to successfully deliver projects/products. Material presented here will apply to many situations where a global team and/or outsourcing vendor is used – Software Development, IT services, Business Process Outsourcing, Publishing to name a few.


When working with global teams, you encounter several challenges. Some examples -- how to understand the stated and real status of a project, how to handle excessive turnover, how to improve productivity. Multi-cultural environments combined with distance and time zone issues contribute to this situation. This course will provide practical tools and approaches you can readily use. We will use case studies and examples drawn from real world situations the instructor has encountered over 30 years of consulting to and managing global organizations. While the case studies are drawn from IT industry in India, learnings will apply to most situations involving a global team.

M. M. (Sath) Sathyanarayan is a full time management consultant. His consulting areas – turning around failing outsourcing operations, optimizing marginally performing outsourcing, launching and managing new outsourcing initiatives. He functions as an advisor or as an interim executive. Domains he focusses on – software development, IT services, technical support, BPO.

His experience in global outsourcing spans 22 years -- initially as a Fortune 500 corporation executive, then as startup CEO. During the past 15 years, as a management consultant, he has helped dozens of executives and managers across industries address a broad spectrum of outsourcing issues and achieve their outsourcing goals.

He is author of a book -- “Offshore Development and Technical Support: Proven Strategies and Tactics for Success”. In addition, he has written numerous white papers and articles and is invited speaker at industry conferences. He holds an M.S. in engineering from Virginia Tech and M.S. in Business from Virginia Commonwealth University.
