Rady School Identifies Fellowship Funding as Priority
The Rady School recognizes that the barrier to graduate business education for many is the cost of attendance. Tuition and fees for full-time MBA programs across the UC system are approximately $24,000 per year for in-state students and close to $36,000 per year for out-of-state students.
Fellowships remove economic barriers that may prevent promising students from choosing Rady. Fellowship funds can also support current students by easing the burden of paying for an MBA and allowing students to focus on academics, not economics.
Through endowed fellowships, the gift principal is invested in an endowment and each year a percentage of the interest earned on the gift is available to spend on fellowships. A percentage of the interest is invested back into the principal to maintain the long-term strength of the endowment. Funding of $40,000 per year enables the school to provide adequate support for two students for the first year of their MBA program.
Endowed fellowships may be created over a three-to-five year period or in some cases through deferred giving. Individuals/benefactors endowing fellowships will be recognized at the Rady School and at UC San Diego. If you are interested in fellowship giving, please contact Graig Eastin at geastin@ucsd.edu.
Why We Give: Julia Brown Fellowship
San Diego biotech executive Julia Brown cares passionately about the life science industry and her fellowship investment at Rady stems from this interest. The Julia Brown Fellowship is awarded to a Full-Time MBA student with a background or interest in the life sciences.
“This is a research town and we desperately need management talent to foster the development of companies,” said Rady School Donor Julia Brown. “It is important to provide students with a bilingual education, meaning both business and science skills. I am investing in the talent I know our industry needs.”
