The rankings were reported in the Nov./Dec. issue of Science Watch, the bimonthly newsletter of Thomson Scientific. The rankings also included total citations and most cited authors.
The UCSD Department of Economics, which includes two 2003 Nobel Laureates, has been highly ranked in several previous studies, including the 2005 US News & World Report survey, which rated the department as the tenth best economics program in the nation. UCSD is also home to the Rady School of Management, established in 2001, which enrolled its first full-time MBA students this fall. The Rady School MBA programs are designed to educate the next generation of leadership for innovation-driven organizations, focused in the science and technology sectors. In addition, UCSD’s Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies includes some of the top scholars in the nation on economic and financial issues related to Asia and Latin America.
