CPA Requirements Timeline

To complete the CPA requirements by the time you graduate, you will need to complete ALL of the following:

  • Major in Economics, Management Science, Joint Math-Economics, Math, or Computer Science, International Studies- International Business, or International Studies-Economics
  • Complete the accounting minor
  • Take the 5 optional accounting electives at UCSD Rady or at another school (extra accounting class)
  • Take 4 ethics classes, either at UCSD or at another school

Any requirements not met by the time you graduate can be completed in a Master in Accounting degree program, at a community college, at another university, or at a continuing education program such as UCSD Extension.

Visit UCSD Career Services Center for resume building. Join the Undergraduate Accounting Society and other accounting and business related student organizations.

Sophmore Year

Fall

ECON4/MGT4: Financial Accounting
(required for minor)

Winter

MGT5: Managerial Accounting
(required for minor)

Attend Undergraduate Accounting Society’s Sophomore Leadership Forum

Spring

Take a UCSD Ethics class (ethics class 1 of 4)

Attend Undergraduate Accounting Society’s Accounting Conference

Summer

MGT147: Not-for-profit and Government Accounting
(Summer session 1) (extra accounting class 1 of 5)

Participate in a summer emerging leaders program, internship or job preferably in an accounting, finance or business field, but any work experience will be a positive on your resume.
