About the Program
According to Chip Conley, "The most forgotten fact in business is that we are all human." Perhaps this is why research has found that fifty-two percent of employees thought of quitting, changing jobs, or declining a promotion because they were unhappy. Fortunately, there is a new and exciting body of research emerging that shows the key to good employee health, organizational well-being, and an improved bottom line is the cultivation of compassion in organizations. Compassion has been used by some most famous and accomplished world leaders (Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and more), as well as in highly successful organizations such as Google, General Mills, Vision Service Plan, CISCO Systems, and Facebook.
By creating a culture of compassion in organizations, research has found that employees are less stressed and fearful and more satisfied, loyal, engaged, and resilient. With compassion, employees nurture their capacities to be kind, forgiving, and helpful which leads to a more efficient, productive, and pleasant place of work. This is how businesses and humans can thrive together.
Compassion in daily business and personal life can inspire:

- Improved focus and thinking - leading to high level strategic planning

Who Should Attend
While the primary audience for this workshop is leaders in business, professionals in the field of mental health and executive coaching can also derive great benefit from the training. Therapists working from a mindfulness and acceptance framework with interpersonal, relationship and professional issues in their clients will find that this program prepares them to translate these practices into a business context.

The WorkLife Integration Program (WIP) at the University of California San Diego Center for Mindfulness is dedicated to delivering outstanding customized mindfulness resources that have a positive impact on business, individuals, and culture while integrating personal health and well-being with business success.
The Center for Mindfulness is a program within the UC San Diego Center for Integrative Medicine and Department of Psychiatry. The foundation of our work lies in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D at the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness. The profound effects of this work are strongly supported by a large body of scientific research, some of which will be shared during this workshop.

Megan Prager is a Certified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Instructor, a Certified Mindful Self-Compassion Instructor, a Certified Yoga Instructor, Director of Outreach at UC San Diego Center for Mindfulness, and Adjunct Faculty at San Diego State University. In addition to teaching Mindfulness-based programs, Megan specializes in developing and delivering mindfulness trainings for Fortune 500 companies as well as for educational, healthcare, and academic settings. Megan is one of the founders of the UCSD Center’s Work-Life Integration Program and co-founder and teacher trainer for the UCSD Professional Training Institute’s 9-Day MBSR Teacher Training Practicum. In all her ventures, Megan’s passion and mission are the same: to empower individuals with an understanding of the important role they play in shaping their lives and well being. Megan believes through compassionate awareness individuals are able to utilize the best resource they have: themselves.
Michelle Becker's background in business, as a retired CPA; her experience teaching mindfulness and compassion, and her work as a psychotherapist specializing in relationships come together when she teaches about cultivating a culture of compassion in business. Michelle is a co-founder of the Mindful Self-Compassion Teacher Training, and a certified Compassion Cultivation Teacher through Stanford. Michelle teaches internationally on the topic of compassion and self-compassion, including the value of bringing these practices into our work lives.
