We have been conducting a wellness study with cohorts of undergraduates since February 2019 that tracks students’ physical activity (via Fitbits), mental well-being (via surveys) and academic achievement. Our preliminary analyses demonstrate large disruptions to physical activity and mental health during COVID-19 compared both to baseline and to a prior cohort. Over sixty percent of our participants are now considered at risk for clinical depression, double the rate at baseline.
