111 MBAs Graduate at 2014 Commencement
On June 20, 2014, the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego held a commencement ceremony for the Full-Time, FlexEvening and FlexWeekend MBA Classes of 2014. The 111 MBA graduates were joined for the ceremony by over 650 family, friends and Rady School supporters. The 2014 commencement ceremony marks a significant milestone for the school as it brings the 10th year anniversary celebration to a close. The commencement keynote speaker was Ernest Rady, the school's naming donor, who was also the commencement speaker for the Rady School's first graduating class in 2006.
Drawing from his many years of success as a businessman and philanthropist, Rady offered words of wisdom and encouragement to the MBA class of 2014. "Now you must translate all that you've learned and all your experiences into a life of meaning and productivity, to build a career and a life for yourself and your family and to help make a better world," Rady said. "I, and all of us at Rady School, take pride in the culmination of all of your hard work and we look forward to your future successes and achievements."
Presiding over the ceremony, Dean Robert Sullivan spoke about the future of the Class of 2014. "The MBA classes of 2014 arrived at the school with extraordinary credentials and potential", Sullivan said. "All have a commitment to excellence and impact - to being leaders, and to being among the very best. Yet, we know that the most important contributions of this class lie ahead, during the next years and next decades. What you will do for communities; what you do for society; the difference and impact that we know you can and will make."
During the ceremony, Ernest Rady received a Rady Founders' Medal for his generous support for the Rady School since its inception.
Students and alumni also took part in the ceremony, with Andrew Estrada (MBA '14) delivering the student commencement address and Jarrod Hammes (MBA '08) delivering the alumni address.
