Michal Paluch is the Executive Director of the Center for Applied Business Science at the UCSD Rady School of Management, where he bridges rigorous academic research with industry applications.
He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and has over two decades of experience in business science and analytics. As a senior leader and global consultant, he brings rare depth across all three dimensions the center represents: scientific rigor, executive leadership, and practitioner credibility.
As Global Head of Pricing Analytics at HP, he built, led, and scaled a large cross-functional organization spanning Ph.D. economists, data scientists, and computer scientists. He designed and implemented advanced pricing and marketing capabilities that transformed how the company approaches commercial strategy worldwide.
Earlier in his career, Michal was a Director at Simon-Kucher & Partners, where he advised leading financial services firms worldwide on pricing and product strategy, dynamic discounting systems, and effective sales processes, translating rigorous economic methods into commercial outcomes.
He is a guest speaker at leading business schools on how to bring science to impact in corporations and his scientific work has been published in the Journal of Applied Econometrics.
Michal earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the Bonn Graduate School of Economics (Germany) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain), and holds an MBA from the UCSD Rady School of Management.
