Orientation & Program Start Dates
Full-Time MBA

Orientation for Full-Time MBA students will begin September 1, 2026. Additional programming will continue through September 21, 2026. Please note, Orientation and classes are in person and all students are expected to attend and participate in all Orientation programs and academic class sessions.
- Arrival Recommendation: Students relocating to San Diego are encouraged to arrive before orientation to get settled. International students on an F-1 visa are permitted to enter the United States up to 30 days prior to the program start date.
Course Registration: Registration for 2026 courses will occur in summer 2026. All incoming Rady graduate students are guaranteed enrollment in their program’s core classes. Detailed instructions for course registration
Preparation for Course Enrollment: RadyReady
To guide you through the onboarding process, the Graduate Student Affairs (GSA) team has created an official pre-arrival course called RadyReady, hosted in Canvas, Rady’s learning management system. This is where students will find essential information and important action steps to take before Orientation and the start of classes. Students will need to complete RadyReady in order to receive permission to register for their classes.
More information about RadyReady will be emailed to students’ UCSD email by their GSA program advisor about six weeks before Orientation.
Housing and Accommodations
Housing Information:
Graduate student housing at UC San Diego is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Incoming students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible to secure accommodations that fit their budget.
Explore available options:
International students on an F-1 visa may enter the United States up to 30 days before the program start date, providing additional time to settle into their housing arrangements.
For short-term stays, some local hotels may offer special UC San Diego rates. These discounts are subject to hotel availability and may change at the hotel's discretion. Students are advised to confirm details directly with the hotel to ensure the most up-to-date information.
I-20 & Visa Process – International Students
I-20 and Visa Paperwork
The UC San Diego International Services & Engagement Office (ISEO) manages all I-20, visa, and immigration-related services for international students. Rady School Graduate Admissions staff are not trained to advise on these matters.
Steps for New International Students:
- Submit Your I-20/DS-2019 Request: Follow ISEO's instructions here to submit your request through the iServices system. Note:
- Allow 7 business days after your deposit confirmation for account setup.
- 2026 Funding Requirements will be posted in February 2026
- iServices opens in March 2026
- I-20 processing takes at minimum 4 weeks after submitting a complete application.

Applicants with degrees in progress during the application process must provide evidence of degree conferral and a final academic transcript as soon as they become available. Do not submit partial or in-progress transcripts or evaluations.
A WES Course-by-Course ICAP Evaluation is required for all admitted applicants who have earned a degree(s) from an institution(s) outside of the United States.
Please note that admitted applicants who have earned degree(s) from institutions outside of the United States and plan to matriculate to UC San Diego are required to submit a Course-by-Course evaluation to have their admission finalized. All MBA students are required to complete the Rady MBA Math, Stats, and Generative AI Bootcamp prior to the start of the MBA program.
This Rady Bootcamp is designed to reinforce key concepts that will serve as the foundation for your MBA coursework. Additional details, including login instructions, will be found in the Rady Ready portal once you begin working with Graduate Student Affairs.
Completion of the Rady Bootcamp is expected prior to the start of your MBA program in 2026.

Submit Campus ID Photo
You will receive your UC San Diego Campus ID Card during your program’s orientation in 2026. Instructions for submitting your ID card photo, along with the submission deadline, will be provided by the UC San Diego in spring 2025.
Please note: Photos cannot be taken at the Campus ID Card Office, so it is important to follow the photo submission instructions and meet the deadline, once provided.
The UCSD Campus ID Card provides access to various discounts and resources. Be sure to verify with the company that they are still offering the discount and note that restrictions may apply.
UC Health Requirements
The University of California is committed to protecting the health and well-being of all students. All of the UC campuses implement procedures to ensure that students are educated about and receive vaccinations to prevent potentially serious and contagious diseases. All incoming students are required to review and meet the UC Health Requirements.
Incoming 2026 students will be provided with access to UC San Diego’s MyStudentChart in early summer 2026. All required health documents must be uploaded directly to MyStudentChart by the student. This platform also serves as the primary communication tool with Student Health Services.
UC Student Health Insurance Plan
Health insurance is a required non-academic condition for enrollment at UC San Diego. To ensure all students have adequate health coverage, UC San Diego automatically enrolls all registered students in the UC Student Health Insurance Plan (UC SHIP).
Incoming students who plan to be covered under a private health plan and do not wish to be covered by UC SHIP may submit an online application to opt out of (waive) the UC SHIP.
Waiving UC SHIP Coverage
- Incoming students who wish to waive UC SHIP coverage must wait until they are registered for Fall 2026 classes to initiate the waiver process.
- Detailed information about the UC SHIP waiver process will be provided by UC San Diego Student Health & Well-Being (SHW) in summer 2026.
- The deadline for submitting the UC SHIP waiver for the 2026-2027 academic year has not yet been provided by Student Health & Well-Being.
If you miss the initial deadline, there will be an opportunity to submit the waiver at a later date, as specified by Student Health & Well-Being.

Statement of Legal Residence
All incoming Full-Time MBA students are required to download, complete and submit a Statement of Legal Residence (SLR) found here.
Please attach your completed SLR to an email addressed to residencedeputy@ucsd.edu, including your name and PID in the subject line. Submit your email as soon as possible.
Note: You may not receive a confirmation email, which is normal. The Residence Deputy will notify the Rady Graduate Programs team approximately six weeks before the start of the Fall 2026 quarter.

To guide you through the onboarding process, the Graduate Student Affairs (GSA) team has created an official pre-arrival course called RadyReady, hosted in Canvas, Rady’s learning management system. This is where students will find essential information and important action steps to take before Orientation and the start of classes. Students will need to complete RadyReady in order to receive permission to register for their classes.
More information about RadyReady will be emailed to students’ UCSD email by their GSA program advisor about six weeks before Orientation.
Housing and Accommodations
Housing Information:
Graduate student housing at UC San Diego is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Incoming students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as possible to secure accommodations that fit their budget.
Explore available options:
International students on an F-1 visa may enter the United States up to 30 days before the program start date, providing additional time to settle into their housing arrangements.
For short-term stays, some local hotels may offer special UC San Diego rates. These discounts are subject to hotel availability and may change at the hotel's discretion. Students are advised to confirm details directly with the hotel to ensure the most up-to-date information.

- Allow 7 business days after your deposit confirmation for account setup.
- 2026 Funding Requirements will be posted in February 2026

Statement of Legal Residence
The Statement of Legal Resident form is not required for incoming students in the following Rady graduate programs: MSBA, MQF, MPAc, FlexEvening MBA, or Executive MBA.
