UC San Diego Basic Needs

UC San Diego Basic Needs Initiatives is a collection of services provided by campus partners to work with both undergraduate and graduate students who have concerns with access to Basic Needs Resources. Services are categorized by Food Security, Housing Stability, and Financial Wellness.

  • The Hub Basic Needs Center coordinates basic needs resources vital to thrive as a student, which includes access to nutritious food, stable housing, and financial wellness resources. We provide basic needs services and resource referrals to registered UC San Diego students. Ask us about CalFresh food benefits! ucsd.edu 858-246-2632.

  • Basic Needs: Any student who has difficulty accessing sufficient food to eat every day, or who lacks a safe and stable place to live, and believes this may affect their academic performance, is encouraged to contact: foodpantry@ucsd.edu, basicneeds@ucsd.edu, or call 858-246-2632.

  • Triton Food Pantry is an emergency food relief program to provide food for students and fight food insecurity. You can get canned food, pasta, beans, and rice as well as fruit and vegetables at the pantry. foodpantry@ucsd.edu

UC Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

UC Student Health Insurance Plan provides quality primary medical care, including urgent care and support services such as laboratory, pharmacy, and x-ray. We have primary care physicians who are board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Some of our physicians also have additional training and expertise in Gynecology, Sports Medicine, Rheumatology, Urgent Care, and Mental/Behavioral Health.

Parking & Transportation

Students, faculty and staff can choose from several parking permit options to meet their needs. Under University of California policy, anyone who parks at UC San Diego must pay a fee to help support construction, maintenance, and administration of parking facilities.
