6/18/20

On June 13, 2020, the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego held a virtual commencement ceremony for 341 graduate students. The commencement ceremony celebrated the graduation of the school’s Full-Time, FlexEvening and FlexWeekend MBA classes, Master of Finance class, Master of Professional Accountancy class, Master of Business Analytics class, and Ph.D. students. Family, friends and Rady School supporters virtually joined the graduates for the ceremony.

The keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony was Rady School naming donor Ernest Rady, who is chairman of the Rady School Dean’s Advisory Council, and the chairman, president, and CEO of American Assets Trust.

“When I became involved with the school some 15 years ago, it was my attempt to share and encourage the joy I've had from my career with others,” Rady said. “So if you're able, go forward and have a career that is fun. I've had half a century of fun and I am really grateful.”

Other speakers included Rady School Dean Lisa Ordóñez and Hyoduk Shin, associate professor of Innovation, Information Technology, and Operations, who delivered the faculty address.

“Today marks a significant milestone,” Ordóñez said. “One of which you should be profoundly proud and one that is entirely yours. Your Rady degree is a symbol of hard work, energy, creativity, and lifelong connections. I know that all Rady students are prepared to make a significant impact in the world with the new tools that you have acquired during your time with us.”

The ceremony also included recognition of student and faculty award recipients. Students receiving the 2020 Dean’s Award were Lauren Rowley (Full-Time MBA), Jai Rui Wen (Master of Finance), Nizam Khan (Master of Professional Accountancy), and Coffey Zhang (Master of Science in Business Analytics). Student recipients of the 2020 Robert S. Sullivan Award were Joseph Baini and Samuel Jordi (Full-Time MBA), Elizabeth Zhang-Chen (FlexWeekend MBA), Di Deng (Master of Finance), and Diego Amenabar (Master of Science in Business Analytics).
