Rady School of Management at UC San Diego Highly Ranked by Poets & Quants Best MBA Programs for Entrepreneurship 2021

The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego has been recognized as one of the Best MBA Programs for Entrepreneurship 2021 by Poets & Quants & Inc. magazine. This ranking evaluated criteria such as the number of startups launched by alumni immediately after graduation, the number of courses focused on entrepreneurship and innovation and opportunities outside of the classroom for students to engage in entrepreneurship.

“We are excited that our commitment to providing a top-quality business education focused on entrepreneurship is confirmed by the recent Poets & Quants ranking,” said Rady School Dean Lisa Ordóñez.

At the Rady School, we integrate entrepreneurship education throughout the MBA curriculum and through comprehensive programming that supports students at every stage of moving business ideas to market. More than 180 companies have been founded by our alumni, creating an economic impact of over $2 billion since our founding in 2003.

One in every four courses is 100% innovation or entrepreneurship focused, taught by world-class faculty conducting cutting-edge research. Our signature Lab to Market course sequence challenges every MBA student to evaluate potential business opportunities, providing hands-on entrepreneurial experience in collaboration with their peers.

Beyond the core curriculum, students have opportunities to develop their business ideas through startup accelerators, mentorships and fellowships. The Rady School’s California Institute for Innovation and Development (CIID) offers programs including Entrepreneurs in Residence, the Rady Venture Fund and the StartR Accelerator, which feature distinct tracks focused on MBA students and alumni, underserved populations, veterans, and social impact. To date, 191 StartR companies have raised over $118 million and seen four exits.

“When Rady School students graduate, they leave the school prepared to make an immediate impact in the workplace, whether that is a startup or an already existing company,” said Dean Ordóñez. “They also leave with an extensive network of connections to business leaders who they were able to work with while at the school. This holistic approach to supporting the entrepreneurial aspirations of our students is what makes the Rady School so unique.”
