(San Diego) — The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego has been accepted into the Yellow Ribbon Program, which is a government-sponsored program that provides tuition assistance to veterans. The program was established by the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008 to help veterans pay for the higher cost of tuition at a private school or for attendance as a nonresident student at a public school.
“The Rady School is proud to be part of the Yellow Ribbon Program,” said Rady School Dean Lisa Ordóñez. “Veterans are valued members of the Rady School community, bringing the unique skills learned in the military to the classroom. Our hope is that the school’s participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program enables more veterans to attend the Rady School and receive an education that can accelerate their post-military careers.”
The Yellow Ribbon Program will allow the Rady School to partner with the Veteran’s Administration to fund tuition and fee expenses that exceed the tuition and fee amounts payable under the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
The Rady School welcomes the wealth of experience brought by veterans. The skills learned in the military such as leadership, teamwork, loyalty and discipline, are an asset in the classroom and align with the Rady School’s values and the emphasis of our graduate programs. The Rady School offers a number of activities for veterans including the Rady Veteran Associations and StartR Veteran. The school’s StartR Veteran accelerator program was created to help veterans explore entrepreneurship and launching a startup. The program utilizes a “veterans helping veterans” approach, providing participants with inspiration, support and mentoring throughout the program.
