Building a Culture of Shared Success

For more than fifty years, employee equity and ownership have been vital mechanisms for creating innovative, productive firms and fostering more resilient economies. Yet the U.S. economy continues to reflect a widening disparity in ownership of wealth and income-producing assets. As technological change, shifting workforce norms, and demographic transitions redefine the future of work, bold and practical solutions are needed to ensure inclusive access to wealth creation.

To meet this moment, the Rady School of Management is establishing a Beyster Executive in Residence for Innovation through Equity and Ownership. The incumbent will be a nationally recognized practitioner with demonstrated experience leading institutions that embody innovation and inclusion through equitable ownership models. In collaboration with the faculty of the Rady School, the incumbent will help bridge between faculty and industry, facilitating cutting edge research with relevant organizations, mentor student teams engaged in domain relevant innovation, and support the teaching mission of the school in their respective field.

This new role will serve as a successor to the current Executive Director of the Beyster Institute and reimagine the position in alignment with the vision set forth by J. Robert Beystert and in collaboration with UC San Diego’s broader entrepreneurial ecosystem. This position will be housed at the Sullivan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, enhancing the School’s strong foundation of entrepreneurship and innovation tied to the regional ecosystem.
