Student Selection
The school has a particular interest in students with degrees in the sciences, engineering, mathematics, economics and psychology; but some of those admitted will have degrees in humanities, business, and the social and physical sciences.

Admission Process
The Rady School admission process is very selective. Applicants are short-listed based on their credentials (test scores, grades, resume or CV, letters of recommendation) and then reviewed closely for their research potential. Applicants are expected to be able to identify the areas of research in which they are interested and the faculty with whom they would like to work.
The department does not enroll students who seek a master’s degree as a terminal degree. Students who elect to specialize in management science and finance are required to have additional mathematical knowledge such as advanced calculus and statistics. This will be verified through an inspection of undergraduate transcripts. In addition, all admitted students will take a math boot camp prior to the start of the first fall quarter.
