Business Analytics Minor (RS29)

Business Analytics is the use of business data to improve business decision making. The explosion of data is transforming nearly every business function to incorporate data in its retrospective analyses, current decisions and future forecasts. The Business Analytics minor curriculum exposes students to four key learning goals: fundamental frameworks and principles of data analysis, wide exposure to a variety of business analytics applications, hands-on training with modern data analysis toolkits, and the generalizable ability to repeatedly learn and apply challenging mathematical frameworks.

The Business Analytics minor can be combined with any major or minor, except for the Technology, Innovation, and Supply Chain minor.

To assist with your planning and to review course descriptions, click on the course’s title on Rady’s Tentative Schedule of Classes on Rady’s undergraduate webpage.

Important Policies:

  • All courses must be taken for a letter grade and passed with a grade of C- or better. Students must finish the minor with an overall minor GPA of 2.0 or higher.
  • Students may overlap 8 upper division units between their major and minor. There is no restriction for overlapping lower-division units.
  • A minimum of 5 courses for the Business Analytics minor must be taken at UC San Diego.

Declaring the Minor

The Business Analytics minor is open to registered UC San Diego students pursuing a bachelor's degree, except students pursuing a minor in Technology, Innovation, and Supply Chain. There is no separate admissions process. We encourage students to declare the minor as soon as possible, to ensure you are meeting all program requirements. In addition, Rady sends important information regarding class offerings and policy changes to our minor students through our minor list.

You may declare a minor through Tritonlink by using the Major/ Minor Tool. For more information on how to declare, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
