Profile
Ping's research sits at the intersection of business analytics, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation, with a particular focus on how organizations can design and implement machine learning systems that align with human incentives, foster creativity, and drive innovation with sustainable business and societal impact. Her job market paper, "Designing Data Science Contests: The Role of Training vs Test Splits," currently under revision for second-round review at Management Science, reveals how data science competitions can unintentionally incentivize suboptimal modeling strategies due to common data-splitting practices. Additionally, as a recipient of the 2025 Academic Senate Barbara and Paul Saltman Excellent Teaching Award, Ping independently designed and taught Business Project Management, a course centered on real-world project applications supported by tools such as ChatGPT and Radiant; and TAed for over 25 courses in the MSBA and MBA programs, in which she worked extensively with Python, R, Docker, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and simulation platforms.
