Profile
Jerry Grimes is a Postdoctoral Scholar in Consumer Behavior/Marketing and a Lecturer at Rady. After earning his bachelor’s degree, he worked as a Project Manager at the marketing research firm Infosurv in his hometown of Atlanta. He studied marketing research and project management at Emory University and the University of Georgia before moving abroad to earn a Master’s and Ph.D. His dissertation received an honorable mention award from the 2021 Association of Consumer Research/Sheth Foundation, recognizing scholarship focusing on public purpose and cross cultural research. His scholarship resides at the intersection of consumer psychology, social marketing, and marketing strategy. Specifically, Grimes' research examines the full spectrum of stigmatized consumption, examining biases in contexts like alcoholic products, homelessness, and mental illness. Ultimately, his research aims to measure consumers’ perceptions of stigma and create interventions to encourage prosocial behavior, while validating these experiences through experimental studies in the behavioral lab as well as in the field.
Grimes has taught several courses at both the bachelor's, master's and MBA levels, on topics including marketing fundamentals, marketing research, international marketing, social media marketing, and consumer psychology.
