Bruce Blakley

Following a four-year tour in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Blakley joined the San Diego office of Coopers & Lybrand in 1973 and was admitted to the partnership in 1982. He was the managing partner of the San Diego office at the time of the merger of Coopers & Lybrand and Price Waterhouse in 1998. After a 32-year career as an audit partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Blakley retired in 2005. Assuming board leadership positions at Excel Trust Inc., HDOS Enterprises, and Cubic Corporation, a NYSE-listed company, he oversaw the sales of these companies to elite private equity groups. Since 2015, he has served as Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Hunter Industries. He was named “Director of the Year - Non-Profit Governance for 2007 and is a State of California CPA-retired. Mr. Blakley has served the community through leadership on many boards, including as chair of The San Diego Foundation for 12 years - working on recruitment, public relations, and philanthropic initiatives across the region.

Mr. Blakley has taught for the undergraduate program at the Rady since 2010, as well as the MBA Flex Program, and has served as Faculty Advisor to the Undergraduate Accounting Society and Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, as well as to many individual students working on independent projects.
